Instrumental Chamber
Seach works for chamber ensemble here. We define chamber music as those works intended to be performed without a conductor. For practicality’s sake, we have only included duos through sextets. Use Instrumentation to refine and navigate.
Under Instrumentation, we have included a few common ensembles (String Quartet, Woodwind Quintet, Piano 4 Hands, etc.) for efficiency. A few of these we have also labeled as “Ensemble + 1.” For example, a piece for flute, two violins, viola, and cello is tagged with “Flute” and “String Quartet + 1.”
If electronics or some form of A/V media are used in a piece they will be tagged, but do not constitute a player. For example, if there is a piece for three percussionists and electronics, it will be listed as a trio.
Note: unfortunately, Airtable does not allow us to list an instrument more than once. If there is a piece for two violins and cello, it will be listed under Trio but “Violin” will only be tagged once. If there is a piece for four violas, it will be listed under Quartet but only tagged with “Viola” once.
If you are looking for pieces by BIPOC composers, you can also refine by that category.
